The BSc (Hons) Web and Mobile Development course focuses on the technologies behind modern web and mobile applications. You will build practical skills in programming, databases, web development, mobile development, server-side systems, user experience and internet technologies.
You will learn through a strong practical focus, with time spent in computing laboratories using appropriate software tools. The course is recognised by the British Computer Society as fully meeting the educational requirements for Chartered IT Professional registration.
Placement routes may be available, including opportunities for a sandwich degree through a full-time placement lasting a full academic session.
This course is for students who want to design, build and maintain web and mobile applications. It is suitable if you are interested in coding, app development, databases, online services, user experience or the wider technologies that support modern digital products.
Graduates can use this degree as a route into roles across web development, mobile app development, software development, database development, systems support, user experience and wider IT services. You may also choose to continue to postgraduate study in computing or a related specialist area.
Build web, mobile, database and server-side development skills using current tools and technologies.

Develop workplace experience through sandwich or shorter placement opportunities, where available.
Introduction to Programming runs as a 20-credit long, thin module across terms one and two.
Direct entrants may be advised to take specific preparatory or replacement modules depending on previous study.
Direct entrants may take Programming for Mobile Devices in place of Advanced Programming for Mobile Devices.
WBL 4 – Industrial Project may be available as a core alternative for students employed by a company able to provide a suitable industrial project.
You will learn through online reading tasks, on-campus class sessions and practical laboratory work. The course places strong emphasis on practical assignments, problem-solving, software tools, reports, presentations and reflective practice.
The course is recognised by the British Computer Society and is designed to develop skills for roles in web development, mobile development, software development, database systems and internet technologies.
