The BSc (Hons) Web and Mobile Development course focuses on the technologies behind modern web and mobile applications. You will build practical skills in programming, databases, web development, mobile development, server-side systems, user experience and internet technologies.

You will learn through a strong practical focus, with time spent in computing laboratories using appropriate software tools. The course is recognised by the British Computer Society as fully meeting the educational requirements for Chartered IT Professional registration.

Placement routes may be available, including opportunities for a sandwich degree through a full-time placement lasting a full academic session.

WBL 4 – Industrial Project may be available as a core alternative for students employed by a company able to provide a suitable industrial project.

You will learn through online reading tasks, on-campus class sessions and practical laboratory work. The course places strong emphasis on practical assignments, problem-solving, software tools, reports, presentations and reflective practice.

The course is recognised by the British Computer Society and is designed to develop skills for roles in web development, mobile development, software development, database systems and internet technologies.

What qualifications do you need?

We welcome Scottish, UK and international students and consider all applicants on an individual basis.

Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of the University of the West of Scotland, together with the course-specific requirements.

Scottish Highers BCCC standard entry or CCCC minimum entry, including Higher Maths or Computing Science or equivalent, plus Maths and English at least at Intermediate 2 / National 5.
A Levels CCD including Maths or Computing Science or equivalent, plus Maths and English at GCSE.
HNC / BTEC Level 4 HNC Relevant discipline.
Scottish Advanced Highers CCD including Computing or evidence of programming.
A Levels BBC including Maths or Computing Science or equivalent, plus Maths and English at GCSE.
HNC / HND Relevant HNC, or HND with grade C in the graded unit, subject to content of previous study.
HND / BTEC Level 5 HND Relevant discipline with at least grade B in the graded unit, subject to content of previous study.

Applicants may also be considered with other academic, vocational or professional qualifications deemed to be equivalent. Students should ideally have a basic knowledge of computers.

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the English language requirements set out by the University.
