The BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies course is designed for international nurses who already hold a diploma-equivalent nursing qualification and want to gain a degree or honours degree in Nursing Studies.
You will develop a deeper understanding of contemporary nursing practice, person-centred care, leadership, management, research, population health and global health challenges. The course supports critical evaluation of professional issues and the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.
The course uses practical and varied teaching and assessment approaches, including simulation, enquiry-based learning, role play, group work, critical discussion, case studies, reflective writing and reports.
This course is for registered nurses outside the UK who already hold a recognised nursing qualification and want to advance their academic and professional profile through degree-level study.
Graduates can apply their enhanced knowledge to nursing practice, leadership, education, healthcare improvement, public health, further study or professional development in international healthcare settings.

Students without a Level 9 research methods module must normally complete Critical Research Appraisal.
Teaching methods include simulation, enquiry-based learning, role play, small group work and critical discussion. Assessment may include OSCEs, computer-based tests, essays, case studies, reflective writing and written reports.
The course supports professional development in areas such as contemporary nursing, leadership, management, research, person-centred care and global perspectives on health.

Applicants must hold a recognised nursing qualification equivalent to 240 credit points from their home country. At least 100 credits must be at the equivalent of SCQF Level 8.
Applicants must have current registration as a nurse with the nursing regulator in their home country. If the nursing qualification was obtained more than five years ago, applicants must normally show recent practice or continued academic development.
Applicants must provide evidence of English language proficiency. IELTS 6.0 overall with no element below 5.5 is acceptable where IELTS is used, and the test must normally have been taken within the last two years.
A satisfactory recent reference is required, either from the applicant’s academic institution or from an employer in a healthcare position.
