Introduction
A great way to lay the groundwork for your career in business is through studying towards the International Foundation Programme. This foundation course aims to prepare you for undergraduate study.
When studying this course, you will engage with the latest academic sources and practical case studies. Students will explore important business-focused modules, as well as get the chance to enhance their English language and key study skills.
With the knowledge acquired from studying the International Foundation Programme, you will be well equipped to progress to the undergraduate level with confidence. For example, you may wish to continue your business education by selecting to study towards a BA (Hons) in International Business.
About the course
This program is designed for both international and UK students, with each application evaluated individually. While pursuing the Business Foundation Course, students will have the opportunity to learn from experienced business professionals with both academic and practical expertise.
The course covers key subjects such as the core principles of business management, human resource management, marketing, and finance. Additionally, students will receive support to enhance their English language proficiency and study skills.

The program modules have been delivered via a hybrid method and the students could experience face-to-face tutorials/ workshops on the London Campus and undertake some classes online. Aula is the virtual environment where all the module materials and discussion channels are available.

How long is the course?
The Business Foundation Programme is a one-year, full-time course.
There are multiple start dates available to allow students the most flexible academic experience. You can begin in January, May or September.
Entry Requirements
Since this programme is a foundational course, applicants do not require prior business qualifications to be considered. However, if you are considering applying, you should ensure you meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Certificate or equivalent

English Language Requirements
For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level. The qualifications below must have been gained within two years of the start of your course.
General English language requirements at UWS:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training)
Only SELT tests accepted:
- IELTS (SELT Consortium) –overall 5 with 4.5 minimum in each components
- PTE (UKVI Academic) – overall 43-49 minimum, with no component below 43
- Skills for English – overall 5 minimum, with no element below 4.5
