The BSc (Hons) Music Technology course develops practical and technical skills for careers across music, audio and media production. You will explore audio post-production, sound design, immersive and interactive audio, live sound, music production and music technologies.

You will work with specialist audio and media software, studio technologies, audio systems, computer audio networks and creative production tools. The course also supports you to build a practical portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills and creative direction.

The course is accredited by Joint Audio Media Education Support (JAMES), reflecting its focus on professional standards and industry-relevant practice.

You will learn through a mixture of lectures, practical sessions, studio work, project work and independent study. Assessment is strongly practical and may include production tasks, portfolios, reports, project work and presentations.

The course develops skills for creative audio roles across music production, media, live sound, sound design, post-production, immersive audio and related creative technology fields.

Scottish Highers BCCC standard entry including Music or Music Technology and English, plus National 5 Maths or Physics at grade C or above; CCC minimum entry including Music or Music Technology and English, plus National 5 Maths/Applications of Maths or Physics.
A Levels CCD including Music or Music Technology and English, plus GCSE Maths or Physics at grade C or above.
Irish Leaving Certificate H3 H3 H3 H4 including HL Music and English, plus OL Maths or Physics.
International Baccalaureate 24 points including HL Music and English, plus SL Maths or Physics.
SWAP Access to STEM with BBB.
Scottish Advanced Highers CCD including Music or Music Technology and English, plus Higher Maths or Physics.
A Levels BBB including Music or Music Technology and English plus Mathematics.
HNC / HND Sound Production, Music Technology, Music and Audio Technology or other relevant discipline, with graded unit requirements depending on qualification.
BTEC Extended Diploma DDM.
HND / BTEC Level 5 HND Sound Production, Music and Audio Technology, Music Technology or other relevant discipline, normally with grade B in the graded unit.

Applicants should demonstrate active involvement in music technology at an appropriate level. Level 9 applicants are expected to provide a link to an online portfolio.

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the English language requirements set out by the University.
