The MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management course provides a comprehensive understanding of logistics and supply chain management concepts, principles and practices.

You will explore the efficient flow and storage of goods, services and related information from point of origin to point of consumption, while examining how supply chain management has become central to business competitiveness.

The course develops advanced skills in designing, managing and improving logistics and supply chain systems, with specialist study in areas such as supply chain analytics, resilience, operations, humanitarian logistics and project management.

Not all optional modules will be offered every term.

Learning activities are designed from a student-centred perspective, with interactive on-campus learning supported by asynchronous preparation and consolidation activities. Teaching includes seminars, individual and group projects and independent study. Assessment may include reflective essays, problem-solving exercises, presentations and written examinations, with a research dissertation or applied project.

The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Placement may be available at the project stage, usually with local companies, where students undertake applied projects supervised by academic staff and company employees.

Students who complete 180 credits, including all required core modules, are eligible for the MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management award. Graduates may progress to MPhil or PhD study, or pursue Chartered Membership status with relevant professional bodies.

What qualifications do you need?

We welcome Scottish, UK and international students and consider all applicants on an individual basis.

Applicants will typically possess an honours degree from a UK university or equivalent in a subject area that may include engineering, mathematics, economics, business studies, geography, planning or social studies, with or without previous work experience.

Applicants may also be considered with other academic, vocational or professional qualifications deemed equivalent.

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language competence. The usual requirement is IELTS 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, or an equivalent recognised English language qualification.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel, is desirable. Some background in quantitative methods in business is also desirable.
