The BA (Hons) Events and Tourism Management course develops the knowledge, practical skills and professional awareness needed for the events, tourism and related service sectors.

You will study specialist events and tourism modules alongside wider business and creative industries subjects. The course explores areas such as event planning, tourism operations, destination management, sustainability, customer experience, marketing, industry practice and strategic decision-making.

The course is structured across four stages: foundation, operational, managerial and strategic. You will learn through lectures, tutorials, presentations, practical sessions, industry-focused activities and, where possible, site visits.

Full-time students typically attend nine hours of on-campus sessions per week, with sessions normally running for 12 weeks in each taught term. Learning may include lectures, tutorials, presentations, practical sessions, workshops, site visits, industry visits, case studies and group exercises.

The course is designed to develop the practical, creative, analytical and professional skills needed in events and tourism. You will build confidence in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, planning, critical reflection and industry awareness.

Entry Requirements

What qualifications do you need?

We welcome Scottish, UK and international students and consider all applicants on an individual basis.

  • Scottish Highers: BBBC standard entry, or BCCC minimum entry
  • A Levels: CCC plus three GCSEs including English and Mathematics
  • Level 8 entry: Scottish Advanced Highers BCC
  • Appropriate HNC or HND in Events, Hospitality, Tourism or Business Management may support advanced entry, subject to the content of the HN course
  • Advanced entry at Level 9 requires experience of staging at least one live event

Applicants may also be considered with other academic, vocational or professional qualifications deemed to be equivalent.

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English language requirements.
