What You Need to Apply

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

To study a postgraduate degree at UWS London, you must meet both academic and English language requirements. We accept a wide range of international qualifications, and our team is here to help you understand what you need before you apply

Academic Requirements

To enter a postgraduate programme at UWS London, you must hold a recognised undergraduate qualification equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree. Most courses require:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class award, or international equivalent
  • A degree in a relevant subject area, depending on the programme
  • In some cases, professional experience may be considered in place of academic qualifications
  • Certain courses may have additional subject or grade requirements

If you are unsure whether your previous study meets the criteria, our Admissions Team can evaluate your qualifications.

For detailed, programme-specific entry requirements, please visit the relevant course page.

Country-Specific Requirements

Entry requirements vary depending on the country in which you completed your previous studies. These differences reflect how international qualifications compare to UK academic standards.

While we are currently building a new set of country-specific guidance pages, our recruitment team can provide personalised advice based on your qualifications. They will help you understand:

  • Whether your degree is equivalent to a UK bachelor’s qualification
  • The grade or classification you need for postgraduate study
  • Any additional documents required from your country
  • Whether professional experience can support your application

Our Recruitment Team is here to help. If you would like tailored guidance, please contact us and we will advise you based on your country of study.

English Language Requirements

All applicants must demonstrate their ability to study in English. You can meet this requirement through one of the following recognised qualifications:

  • IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, with no component below the minimum requirement
  • PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge English qualifications at an equivalent level
  • A recognised school-leaving English qualification, where accepted
  • A Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter, if applicable to your country and programme

If you do not yet meet the English language requirement, you may be able to take a recognised test or join a pre-sessional English course.

For full details, please visit our English Language Requirements page.

Evidence You Need to Provide

When submitting your application, you must provide clear and accurate documentation to support your eligibility. This typically includes:

  • Degree certificate showing the award you achieved
  • Academic transcripts listing all modules and grades
  • English language test results (if required)
  • Passport or official ID page
  • Academic or professional references, if requested by the programme
  • CV or résumé outlining your professional experience (where relevant)
  • Official translations for any documents not issued in English

All documents should be official copies, and where required, certified by your institution or an authorised translator.

Additional Information

Before applying, please consider the following:

  • Conditional offers may be issued if you still need to meet academic or English language requirements.
  • Unconditional offers are issued once all requirements and documents have been verified.
  • If you have previous university-level learning, you may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), depending on the course.
